I happened to stumble across the Countess Vanassa earlier this evening. She was fretting that her husband, Merchant Prince Zackes, would find her. She's not sure why he's returned from the sea, and she didn't seem too pleased that he was in town. She touched on the idea that it may be because Zackes wants a son. (She mentioned that they've tried before, but it was not meant to be.) Before she left, she asked me to relay to Zackes, should I see him, that she would meet with him when she feels like it.

When I later bumped into Zackes, I relayed Vanassa's message. According to Zackes, he's retiring from the traveling life and is looking for a place to settle down, hopefully with his wife. He alluded to the fact that their love has faded due to time and distance. (He no longer wears his wedding ring, although he always carries it with him.) He seemed frustrated and unhappy that he had missed her and that he would have to wait to see her again.

Unfortunately, I don't know any history about the two of them, so my questions were haphazard at best, which is probably why everything I learned sounds so soap-opera-ish. If anyone could shed any light on the subject, I'd appreciate it so I can be better prepared should I stumble across either one again.

Thanks,

First appearance?

(From the play.net boards, 11 August 2001, by HBOMB17)
