* Redeemed Necromancers: Does not generate [[Divine Outrage]] so there are no restrictions on using this spell like with [[Consume Flesh]] or [[Devour]]. Description: | An interesting application of Thanatology, the Resection spell uses ritual blood as a conduit to attempt to draw out and remove physical ailments like disease or poison from the practitioner's body.
Effect: | Removes poison/disease at the cost of wounds.
Example Messaging: | Correctly cast (used cut ritual), poison: You feel the ritually prepared blood on your palm warm and draw your hand towards the disease within your body.
You feel the lurking disease move through your body, pulled painfully up by the call of your ritually prepared blood, causing a lump to form on your left hand, which quickly grows in size, becoming almost unbearable. The blood on your palm begins to boil as several slender crimson tendrils spring forth and violently lance the protrusion! Correctly cast (used cut ritual), no poison: You feel the ritually prepared blood on your palm warm briefly, but nothing else happens. Incorrectly cast (did not use cut ritual): You feel your insides begin to warm and sense that you have made a terrible mistake. Without a ritually prepared exit point your blood is tormented by the spell pattern, erupting into a filamentous network of boiling movement and pain! Dozens of slender crimson tendrils explode outward all over your body, ravaging your flesh!
Devices/Tattoos: | No devices or tattoos documented. |
- Cures some amount of poison/disease up to a potency based on the mana used
- This spell violently expels the poison/disease out of the body through a ritually prepared wound via PERFORM CUT. Generates slight/light bleeding external and internal wounds on a random body part from the list below as well as a small vitality hit.
- If casting the spell without first using the PERFORM CUT ritual then no curing happens and your blood is forcibly expelled from your entire body, generating multiple slight to moderate bleeding wounds to all body parts below and a large vitality hit. This happens even if you don't have any poison and disease. It tends to generate large wounds on the chest, abdomen and back than the other body parts.
- External wounds: head, neck, right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg, right hand, left hand, chest, abdomen, back
- Internal wounds: head, neck, right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg, chest, abdomen, back
- Redeemed Necromancers: Does not generate Divine Outrage so there are no restrictions on using this spell like with Consume Flesh or Devour. Mundane healing must be relied on to deal with the resultant wounds, however, whereas a forsaken necromancer can just heal themselves. There is no interaction with Ebon Blood of the Scorpion despite it being a blood magic spell.
- Potential bug: It does not currently generate internal hand wounds whether it was correctly cast or not.
