| Throne City sits within the the geographical boundaries of Therengia, however its status is a bit awkward.
The Moon Mage guild does not officially claim Throne City, since a professional guild attempting to usurp the old capital of the empire would be taken as monumental hubris. No matter how power-hungry Taramaine is, he knows his limits. They "just happen" to be using the buildings and patrolling the streets. Therengia does nothing to exercise a hold on Throne City, for two major reasons. 1: Telling a large group of Moon Mages and their Y'Shai to vacate could end poorly. Therengia would certainly win if it came down to an armed contest, but wizards that can teleport across the planet, scry your dirty secrets and see the future can make things...expensive. This leads us to... 2: Throne City isn't worth anything. There's no longer a strategic or economic value to holding it; the only practical value of Throne City is the infrastructure the Moon Mages brought with them. If the guild ever walks away from Throne City it will simply be a half ruined town, of interest only to Bards and the occasional Warrior Mage. | |
