Paladins are empowered concept of spiritual purity that is not guaranteed to be a 1:1 correlation between either the ethics of man or the whims of every divinity.

A "Paladin of Alduath" (more accurately, a Paladin who decides he fancies Alduath) needs to come to his own terms about how far he will injure his soul for his misanthropic lord, just as a Paladin that decides tomorrow he really likes Hodierna might find the whole mercy and forgiveness shtick is a bit impractical on the battlefield. Alduath probably doesn't care about the needs of his soul, and his soul certainly doesn't care about what Alduath specifically wants.
