Glyph of Warding Update · on 11/28/2019 11:19 1703
What started as a few minor tweaks turned into a significant rewrite of the Glyph of Warding ability. While the glyph does much the same thing it did yesterday, it has a number of changes and an overhauled backend.

THE GOOD:

1) Glyph of Warding had a limited ability to reduce favor costs before, but this has been revamped to be the major feature of the glyph.
1a) It now provides a flat out -1 favor cost to all DEPART options, which can bring the cost down to 0 favors if relevant.
1b) The glyph should be backwards compatible with everything else that modifies favor cost now.

2) Glyph of Warding can now be used on the living to preemptively apply the ward effect. If someone dies while pre-warded they have full access to the glyph's benefits for whatever duration is left since the Paladin glyphed them.

3) Speaking of, the duration is now based on Conviction instead of circle, and on the high end has been greatly extended (up to in excess of 2 hours).

4) Also speaking of, it now teaches Conviction on application.

5) The messaging has been revised.

THE BAD:

1) Warding the living has a modest soul pool cost.

2) The glyph now has a small RT to use.

3) Handling of cursed (which is to say, Necromancer) PCs is changed to provide them more cover. Glyph of Warding is no longer serviceable as a Necro-detector, though they still do not get the benefit of the ability if cursed.

THE INDIFFERENT:

1) Item-retaining glyph function still exists and will appear intelligently (when a non-item retaining depart option is used).

2) Warding against TM/ranged is still present in the code, though I'm not sure if it actually works as intended. As I said before, this part of the glyph is frozen until I can spin it off into its own ability or spell, at which point it'll be removed from Glyph of Warding. I just didn't want to remove it until I had a replacement ready.

3) Some fairly wide backend work that you shouldn't notice. If anything goes wonky, please let me know.

As usual for releases, the exact numbers I'm using are up for tweaking. Let me know what your feeling is for the numbers and I'll also be monitoring myself. This is live in Prime and Platinum, and will go live in Fallen after the release settles down.

Happy turkeys for all.
