The factors in FoC are:

1) How much vitality you have available to fuel the spell.
2) How much fatigue you have available to fuel the spell.
3) How much mana you cast the spell with.

Mana increases the efficacy of the vitality/fatigue -> healing conversion.

If you don't make sure to keep your vit/fat as high as possible, this spell will be less useful.
