Difficulty of the spell is a bit complex, and I won't walk you through the formula. However, a lie that nonetheless gives you an idea of how it works is:

Base spell difficulty + Mana Input * Preparation Time modifier * Mana Incompatibility modifier.

This should be very intuitive in practice: some spells are inherently harder than others. Using more mana is harder than using less mana. Snapcasting is harder than full prep. Sorcerous casting is harder than doing a spell your Guildleader taught you.
