Bloodsteel was first developed by followers of Sraxaec, who perfected an exacting smelting process undertaken only beneath clear skies in outdoor crucibles when the planet Sidasas is visible. The careful timing of each stage, the precise regulation of the furnace, and the introduction of powdered truegold and specially selected colored gemstones blessed by a Cleric of Sraxaec give the procedure an almost ritualistic quality. The unusual properties of the finished metal are attributed by non-believers to the faintly glowing powder and gemstone dust incorporated during smelting, though its creators vehemently insist that the true source is the influence of Sraxaec and Sidasas in the sky above them while they work.

Common Description

Glossy rivulets of <color> bleed across the bloodsteel blade in an endless glistening trickle.

Alteration Rules

This material is required for alterations.

The steel itself will remain some usual steel shade of silver/grey. Any color references apply to the hue of the effect bleeding across it. The glossy appearance resembles liquid trickling across the surface, yet the material remains completely solid and dry. The verb "bleed" can be used to describe the movement of color, but "bloodsteel" must appear in the same field. The metal may be matte, tarnished, etc., but the color effect is always glossy/glistening in the related atmospheric messaging.
