Chakrel is a unique reddish-orange gemstone found in/near old and inactive lava tubes which can be substituted for a flame when Barbarians MEDITATE on their Inner Fire. It is a hard material and extremely hard to work with.

Forms

Chakrel has two forms, perfect and rough, the difference being the quality of the flame-shaped inclusion.

Rough Chakrel:

Rough chakrel is identifiable by the phrase "uncut reddish-orange stone contains slender black streaks and a white flame-shaped inclusion at its heart" in it's description. While the time required to give the level of Inner Fire is not as slow as with basic flame, it is not the instant indication that perfect chakrel is.

Perfect Chakrel:

Perfect chakrel is identifiable by the phrase "carefully shaped reddish-orange stone contains slender black streaks and a perfect white flame-shaped inclusion" in it's LOOK description. Perfect chakrel will give you an instant indication of your current level of Inner Fire.

Uses:

Barbarians may use chakrel in place of a flame to perform meditations to learn of their Inner Fire level. Chakrel jewelry requires that it be held, and either a five-second round time penalty while standing or the user be kneeling.

In addition, certain very rare items have chakrel that will a Barbarian's Inner Fire regeneration rate

Alterations:

While chakrel may be altered by very rare merchants (Vishlan is the only one currently known), regardless of the form it finally takes it must retain the reference to the "reddish-orange stone contains slender black streaks and a white flame-shaped inclusion at its heart." As of this update, chakrel is not allowed to be placed into anything but jewelry type items.

Re: Chakrel Info Request · on 6/22/2008 6:40:46 PM 17061 I can further clarify a few things on chakrel:

The difference in the two kinda currently available are indeed the purity of the inclusion.

Chakrel is a gemstone.

It is indeed found in more types than neckworn. THere are weapons (of those released, also recharge Inner fire), rings, armbands, and the various neck pieces.

It is found in/near old and inactive lava tubes.

Change to chakrel · on 6/13/2008 8:13:27 PM 2489
In roughly 30 minutes I will be rolling into all instances a change to chakrel items. So, what is it?

No longer will a Barbarian be required to kneel to meditate on their chakrel items - standing is now acceptable when attempting to meditate on these items. However, because proper meditation form is to kneel or sit, it is harder to do this while standing and thus there is a roundtime now associated with this, so kneeling is still the premier way to meditate, but it is no longer required. You may also do this while in combat.
