Description

The inkbound leonine guardian is constructed from various pieces of library debris with a powerful, sleek, body with muscular contours. Intense, intelligent, predatory eyes emit a steady amber glow from within a broad face. Long strips of shredded linen drape from its neck and shoulders in a ragged mane, while lacquered parchment furs form the rest of its hide in dense, flexible layers. Its broad paws end in curved claws fashioned from discarded scraps of metal that are polished to a dark gleam.

The lean body is reinforced with structural supports and tightly braced framing that depicts a low, powerful stance rather than heavy bulk. Across the length of its form, shadow-black text drifts continuously in wavering currents that slide over parchment and vellum without ever resolving into readable script.

Recall

Within the sprawling halls of Fenvol's Folly roam inkbound leonine guardians, feline constructs assembled from fractured shelving, lacquered wood, warped bindings, and dense scraps of torn parchment. Their forms were originally crafted as graceful companions meant to wander the library alongside their creator, but repeated exposure to his unusual experiments twisted that purpose into something far more feral and protective. Now they patrol the stacks as territorial sentinels, guarding the inspiration for their very existence.

The leonine guardian is known to cast the Refractive Field and Fluoresce spells.

They are known to carry loot in locked boxes.

Special Attacks

Special attack that can stun you and knock you to your knees:

Shadow-black text spills in rushing currents across the body of an inkbound leonine guardian as it crouches low then springs forward to pounce on you, its tattered linen mane flowing wildly around its head and shoulders.

Followed by one of:

• You twist aside at the last moment, leaving the guardian to crash heavily across the floor in a scatter of rustling linen and shifting text.
• The leonine guardian crashes into the side of your head with crushing force, scattering your senses as you stagger to one knee.
