Anthill garnet
Ancient Rissan eruptions carried garnet-bearing material toward the surface, where weathering eventually released the durable crystals into the surrounding soil. Colonies of native Rissan cinder ants encounter these deposits while excavating extensive nests beneath the volcanic sands. Rissan cinder ants are able to distinguish subtle differences in the physical properties of the stones and sort them accordingly. This results in three recognized varieties, with increasingly rare stones receiving specialized treatment within the colony.
Introduced with Hollow Eve Festival 458.
- Notes for alterations
Although these gems are collectively described as “anthill garnets,” the variety of garnet must always be specified as a cinderstone, broodstone, or queenstone.
