Lunge
Combat maneuver that makes a slow, heavily fatiguing puncture attack with a held melee weapon, trading balance for damage. It is one of the specific maneuvers that make up weapon combos.
Unknown

The LUNGE command commits your weight behind a held melee weapon for a heavy puncture attack. It is the puncture counterpart of CHOP and BASH: slow, extremely fatiguing and unbalancing, but hard-hitting.

Syntax

  • LUNGE
Attack the enemy you are already engaged with, or pick a new one if you are not engaged.
  • LUNGE <enemy>
Attack the indicated enemy.
  • LUNGE <enemy> <body part>
Attack the indicated enemy, aiming for the named body part.
  • LUNGE LEFT <enemy>
Attack with the weapon in your off hand, training Offhand Weapon skill alongside the weapon skill.
  • LUNGE HELP
Basic syntax help. LUNGE HELP FULL gives the maneuver's mechanical profile, and LUNGE HELP LIST lists the other combat options.

Detailed Information

Lunge is a damage dealing maneuver.
Lunge tends to be a extremely fatiguing maneuver. Attacking again too soon can make this worse.
Lunge tends to be unbalancing.
Lunge is a slow maneuver, but heavy or unbalanced weapons can slow the attack further.
Lunge is more accurate than most maneuvers, and is best suited to puncture weapons and least suited to both slice and impact weapons.
Lunge temporarily penalizes all defenses, but is best suited to parry defenses and least suited to both evasion and shield defenses.

Notes

  • CHOP, BASH, LUNGE and SWEEP all share a minimum roundtime. See Roundtime for the figures by weapon weight.
  • Lunge cannot be used while grappled. Use JAB instead.
  • Because lunge is unbalancing and extremely fatiguing, it is normally spent from a high balance built up with FEINT or JAB rather than repeated.
