Appearance
Salji Raeshtayaena, Arcane Researcher of Ilithi, an Elothean.
He has an aristocratic face with an acid burn mottling the left side of the cheek, impenetrable clear colored eyes and a classical nose. His blue-black hair is long and wavy, and is worn in a careless, windblown arrangement.
He has pale skin and a strapping build.
He is statuesque for an Elothean.
He is an adult.
He has a full and luxurious beard comprised of countless spirals that tumble down his chest in a mass of rioting curls.
He has a tattoo of a twisted silver-traced stylized flame on his shoulder.
He is wearing some absinthe emerald ear studs, a damite-plated collar incised with severed heads, a ribbed moradu-bone hauberk reinforced with shadowleaf binding, a void black Chaos rose, a ragged shirt, a pair of ripped leggings and a pair of scuffed boots.
Biography
Salji was born on the 28th day of the 6th month of Arhat the Fire Lion in the year of the Bronze Wyvern, 400 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer.
While he was originally born into another house, his eyes and hair made him a member of those children who "died" at a young age, and were never heard from again. In reality, he was spirited away to join the House of the All-Seeing Eye and to be trained as an assassin...to be used at the discretion of the Melyo Rensh'a and the Ferdahl.
Just as he was approaching maturity, Ilva, the Shrike of Dergati, assassinated the Melyo Rensh'a and launched her coup. As his house disintegrated around him, Salji grew disgusted by the infighting between the rebellion and those loyal to the Melyo Rensh'a and decided to abandon the life of an assassin.
Raised a devoted follower of Dergati, Salji was also aware of a tradition in the House that members of the All-Seeing Eye possessed a different spiritual composition from other Elotheans. Wondering if this imbalance was the cause of the strife in his house, Salji sought spiritual enlightenment, beginning with the Elothean spiritual masters that could be found in the Temple of Serenity. After significant study, one of the Temple Luminaries suggested that he go north to the Crossing and seek further instruction from the Abbot Adano of the Order of Inquiry.
After a significant amount of physical labor, and many lectures on the nature of the soul, Salji accidentally stumbled upon a small cadre of Necromancers, under the leadership of Zamidren Book, who captured him, conducted magical experiments on him, and forced him to join their group in pursuit of the Great Work.
Salji now wanders the realms, pursuing the Great Work, specifically as it pertains to the Elothean soul, with the hope of understanding the spiritual composition of those Elotheans like him, as well as hoping to break free from the mortal constraints it creates.
