A fairly significant bug between magic and the Paladin First Strike penalty has been fixed.

Hypnotize no longer counts toward first strike. Paladins can cast it without consequences to their soul, but it does not count as a first strike against the Paladin if someone else casts it on him, either.

Most other offensive, non-TM spells are now properly considered first strikes. Paladins will now risk their soul state if they open combat with 'um, but they can now smash a mage's face in without worries if they're the target.

Some spells remain a bit weird for these purposes and will be fixed as time allows. Chiefly: Tezirah's Veil, Nissa's Binding and Halt still do not count as first attacks.
