Well that logic doesn't add up, but you are welcome to your opinion.

If fire damaged cloth you'd see nobody using it. They'd rather take 5% more fire damage than be forced to stop hunting and hit up the repair shop 3x more often.

Adding magical resistance to armor doesn't fit in with DR lore.

I'm also not sure that Paladins with - EXCEPTIONALLY - few benefits to their primary skillset, would appreciate someone handling magic and elemental attacks better than them. With less hindrance. With less weight. With less penalties to stealth. :/
