Notes
Rite of Contrition is a Held Mana spell that is designed to hinder supernatural attempts to identify a Necromancer for what he is.
- While held, the spell reduces your effective Divine Outrage for purposes of detection. This does not affect your status as a cursed being, only the ability of other PCs to observe this. Among others, this changes: Moon Mage and Cleric PERCEIVE, Empath TOUCH, the appearance of your Analogous Patterns spells, and any other system current or future that asks "Can I tell he's a Necromancer?" in the correct manner. This does not affect your vulnerabilities if someone already knows you are a Necromancer. For example, if you have enough Divine Outrage to get hit by Harm Evil, ROC will not stop it from happening. The amount of Divine Outrage mitigated is directly related to the amount of mana you are holding.
- If ROC is active and your Divine Outrage (after ROC's modification) is low enough to appear normal, a number of other small things happen to obscure blatant tells that Moon Mage and Cleric PERCEIVE still might have picked up on. The contents of this is PAFO for now. This does not work if your Divine Outrage is high enough to be detected as an Arcane magic user/cursed soul.
- ROC rapidly dispels any Transcendental Necromancy buff that you have active prior to casting it, and will periodically continue to remove them if for some reason you manage to get one on while still holding the spell.
