dyrachis anatomy chart | |
---|---|
Look: | A drawing of a spiny dyrachis with head extended and spines raised covers this chart. Overlaid on the figure is a proportions grid demonstrating body relationships. Small cutaway illustrations scattered around the main drawing show different levels of muscle tissue and bone from various parts of the body. Small notations beside each body part offer a short description.
There appears to be something written on it. Read: The spiny dyrachis is a six-legged beast about the size of a yak. The creature's feet are wide, each of its three toes splayed, and it stands on the page in a stubborn, immovable posture. The dyrachis' head resembles a cross between a bull and a sheep, though its mien is mulish and cantankerous. The author notes that when it feels threatened, the dyrachis can inflate air sacs beneath its skin to raise its long, sharp, poisoned quills -- and then use that air to fire the quills at its foes with great force. |
