Vivid green leaves on slender purple stems frame sanguine blooms. Each blossom is shaped like the head of a hooded snake, with scarlet stamens like forked tongues and blood-red petals with spidery veins of black.

Spring: Pale green leaves on slender purple stems frame ghostly-white buds. Each nascent blossom is in various stages of bloom, unfurling corpse-pale petals delicately veined with lurid carmine.
