Description

You see Songbird Mendira Huns, Dancer of Zaldi Taipa, an Elf.
She has pointed ears and large expressive faded lilac eyes. Her dark brown hair is hip length and silky, and is worn in an intricate braid threaded with a golden rosecloth ribbon and allowed to fall over one shoulder. She has warm caramel-hued skin and a sylphlike figure.
She is statuesque for an Elf.
A herd of itty bitty bronze bovines cavorting around an aurora tourmaline sun float lazily around her right arm, glowing with a lustrous sheen against her skin.
She appears to be young.
She has several interlocking rings of green jade that pierce the flesh to follow along your right eyebrow, each notched in even intervals and rubbed with indigo.
Her shoulder has a tattoo of a brightly colored songbird darting through a cascade of musical notes.
She is in good shape.

She is wearing a delicate obsidian necklace shaped like a wren with wings outstretched to wrap around the neck, a tarnished gold silveress bandeau, a low-slung dancing skirt of diaphanous saffron scarves atop persimmon silk and a pair of soft gold velvet dancing slippers with silken ankle-laces.

Mendi's Favorite Things

TAP: a careworn dancer's treatise bound by soft rosecloth ribbons
LOOK: Creasing and discoloration are evident along the lengths of blush-hued ribbon in a distinct pattern. Elegant lettering in faded gold leaf sweeps across the cover to read, "Dance Like Everyone's Watching: Forms, Theory, and Advice on Performing Before an Audience." Many of the pages are crinkled and littered with copious tiny notes in the margins.
TAP: an auroral-toned lotusweave kirtle belted by draping chains of gold
LOOK: Awash in the pale hues of a dawning spring morning, the fabric gleams with a soft silken luster as it cascades from its demure scooped neckline to a floor-length hem. Long, narrow sleeves frame the bodice of the garment, and a series of loose golden chains hang across the hips. Medallions dangle from the fine links overlapping the folds of the flowing skirt, each carved with a stylized sun.
TAP: some green jade rings notched in even intervals
WORN: You have several interlocking rings of green jade that pierce the flesh to follow along your right eyebrow, each notched in even intervals and rubbed with indigo.
NOTE: Eye brow rings that match Briaen's, to signify their marriage. From Humanist.
TAP: a gold neithrel band fastened with five silver chains
LOOK: Lines of inlaid silver run along the heavy gold bracelet and ring forming the neithrel band. Each of the five silver chains stretches from different places upon the bracelet to join together on the single ring, forming a delicate silver web to lay across the back of the hand when worn.
READ: "To remember, lest we forget the pain of those before us."
Peacock Dance Costume:
You see Dancer Mendira Huns of Zaldi Taipa, an Elf.
The glittery mask is covered in short greenish-blue feathers to create the regal head of a peacock and completely enshrouds her features. A fan-like crest crowns the top of Mendira's head, while long plumes of iridescent blue and green cascade down her shoulders to display their colorful eyespots sprinkled with peacock jaspers. The vibrant teal gems contrast sharply with the pure white beak of alerce covering the lower half of her face.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a dramatic spun glitter cloak trailing a multitude of iridescent peacock plumes, an iridescent blue spun glitter bodice flamboyantly feathered with peacock plumes, a breathtaking classically-styled tutu composed of iridescent peacock feathers and a pair of soft gold velvet dancing slippers with silken ankle-laces.
TAP: a dramatic spun glitter cloak trailing a multitude of iridescent peacock plumes LOOK: Innumerable delicate feathers are festooned in overlapping rows across a scintillating layer of vivid, sapphire blue spun glitter. They quiver with every movement of the garment, bright blue eyes showcasing their brilliance with every tremble. Emerald firesilk lines the interior, and its shimmering hue and shifting shades of red complement a pair of delicate gold hooks designed to secure the cloak at the throat. NOTE: Cloak crafted by Sindah, with consultations from Vixonia and Navesi
Sungold Dance Costume:

She is wearing a whisperlayne and petalette bandeau illumined by sungold beadwork, a wispy skirt composed of lilac whisperlayne entwined in fine strands of sungold and some delicate toe-bells of filigreed sungold.
TAP: a fragile sungold hairnet woven with translucent whisperlayne blooms LOOK: Thin chains of softly gleaming metal linked at regular intervals comprise a loose mesh designed to secure a variety of hairstyles, affixed on either side to a set of small filigreed silver combs. Soft blossoms of airy, pale purple fabric are scattered across the joining points of the delicate hair ornament, their petals trembling and floating with every movement.
TAP: an elegant filigreed sungold dancing fan trailing lengths of lilac whisperlayne LOOK: Finely drawn tendrils of metal twist together in a lattice of coiling strands to compose a series of delicate panels, each aureate in the warm, gentle hues of dawn. Carved to provide a secure grip, a ring of pure white alerce joins them at the base of the piece. Articulation of the wooden handle allows the fan to open and close smoothly, every movement setting the streaming translucent fabric affixed to the tip of each blade aflutter.
TAP: a whisperlayne and petalette bandeau illumined by sungold beadwork LOOK: Neatly draped swathes of sheer fabric dyed a pale lilac hue veil the close-fitting garment's lustrous base of blush petalette. Silver cording trims the neckline and serves to lace up the back. Tiny beads and baubles stitched in intricate patterns atop the airy whisperlayne gleam in the light, shimmering with an array of sunrise hues.
TAP: a wispy skirt composed of lilac whisperlayne entwined in fine strands of sungold LOOK: A blush petalette underskirt glimmers with a pearlescent sheen beneath layers of diaphanous whisperlayne. Silver cording adorns the upper edge of the garment to form a secure waistband that anchors the lavish lengths of fabric that billow downwards when worn. Clusters of aureate beads are strewn in ornate patterns across the gauzy top layer, each joined to the next by finely wrought tendrils of warm metal awash in all the hues of a rising sun.
TAP: some delicate toe-bells of filigreed sungold LOOK: Fine strands of gleaming metal tinged with warm sunset hues form the petals of diminutive blooms. Each of the hollow sculpted flowers encases a single, tiny bead of silver, and the argent drops jingle and rattle within their brilliant cages when jostled.
TAP: a pair of blush petalette dancing slippers laced with twining ribbons LOOK: The flat, flexible soles display signs of wear, their leather supple and scuffed, but the laces appear to be crisp and new. They criss-cross smartly over the throat of the shoes, the remaining lengths of silken fabric designed to wind about the ankles when worn.

Huns House, in Ilithi

[Almalne Alolan, Among the Blooms]
The farmland here has been allowed to become a field of wildflowers. Blue forget-me-nots, brilliant orange poppies, white larkspurs, and miniature sunflowers blend together in a riot of hues amidst the backdrop of dark green grasses. Flitting from flower to flower, rotund bumblebees create a humming buzz. Placed at the edge of the myriad of blooms is a finely wrought iron gate. You also see an expansive purpleheart retreat with a copper-roofed cupola atop the ridgepole.
Obvious paths: none.

[Huns House, Parlor]
Walls of smooth silverwood and a wide-planked zingana floor covered by a deep-fringed white wool carpet enclose this room. In one corner lies a simple pure white brocade sofa with soft throw pillows, and near the sofa sits a carved sandalwood end-table on which rests a pot of sunflowers. A wide white plastered fireplace with a narrow mantel burns along the far wall with a large oil painting depicting a serene pastoral landscape hanging above it. The room holds a lingering scent of sandalwood. You also see a fretwork sandalwood armchair that is facing the sofa, a white and orange kitten and a large garden window with sparkling glass panes.
Obvious paths: none.

>look kitten
Large blue eyes gaze back at you from the kitten's wedge-shaped face. Slightly built, his body has a fragile appearance relative to its head, an impression swiftly dispelled when he begins to tumble awkwardly around the room. His short orange and white coat, plush and thick, makes his bright blue eyes appear even brighter.
He is standing.
>rub kitten
As you lightly rub the orange kitten from ears to tail, he arches his back against your hand.
>look painting
Painted in lush hues dappled with golden highlights, a narrow stream winds its way through rolling fields dotted with soft white sheep. A large willow tree overhangs the nearest bend in the serpentine waterway, its drooping boughs covered in shimmering leaves. Each branch's tip just touches the placid waters below, causing a number of silvery ripples to spread out in ever widening circles. Feathery grasses and tall cattails sprout up along the water's edge, cast partly into shadow by the majestic tree.

[Huns House, Prayer Room]
A hand-painted silk prayer mat adorns the zingana floor of this room. An exquisite obsidian brazier, with a richly illuminated parchment hanging above it, rests between a black obsidian altar and a simple side table pushed up against the smooth silverwood walls. The room holds a strong scent of incense. You also see a white and orange kitten and a silverwood door elaborately carved with blooming vines.
Obvious paths: none.

>look on alt
On the obsidian altar you see a silver candlestick and an oaken icon of the goddess Berengaria.
>look icon
A short, plump woman holds a sheaf of grain with one hand, while her other scratches a cow's ear. Her smile is kindly, but her gaze is direct and thoughtful.
>look on table
On the side table you see a filigree silver censer and a white leather prayer book.
>look parchment
The illuminated parchment has two prayers lettered in a flowing script -- a prayer for morning, and one for night. The letter B of Berengaria is large and filled with sheaves of wheat and tiny cows in a meadow within the design, and a gold-leaf sun rising above it. The letter P is filled in with a rich deep blue color, with silvery stars sprinkled throughout and dotted across the text of the prayer. A multicolored border of vines, flowers and stars trails down the right side and bottom of the parchment.
>read parchment morning prayer
You silently read your parchment.

  ~Prayer for Berengaria~

  Thy child seeks the light,
  Bring us dawn this day:
  Walk before me, sow anew
My feet follow seeking their way.

  Renew light and life,
  Thou are Mother to me,
  Mother who banishes night
And holds my soul safe for me.

  *The Prayer Before Sleep*

Phelim, hold me in thy fold
  Thy stars blanket me soft
  Thy fingers stroke my brow
  Thy dreams bear me aloft.

  A sweet bird calls clear
As I close my eyes tight
  A promise of safe sleep
Under sweet holy Tears, come kiss me goodnight.

[Huns House, Music Conservatory]
Smooth silverwood walls stare silently at a bare zingana floor. The room holds a lingering scent of lemon oil. On the writing table you see a fluted nib pen twisted into a treble clef and a staff-lined music manuscript book.

Tall alabaster columns twined with flowering rose vines frame the image, creating a portal through which can be glimpsed a lush garden in full bloom. Roses bloom in a rainbow of color from every bush, vine and stately hedgerow. Narrow stone paths wind through the vivid scene, with bright green moss growing up between the faded and timeworn slabs.

  *A Praise of Gods*
  by Granar Veracine

Hodierna thy light shines brightly for me
Tamsine thy hearth warms my soul
Eluned your strength is with me
Kertigen thee provides for our needs
Praise to the gods of Elanthia!

Meraud fill my book of prayers with glory!
An army of Clerics marches forth by Everild
Glythtide prepare the wine for offering
Faenella sing songs of warrior deeds
Glory and Praise to the gods!

Children laugh at the feet of Damaris
  Mercy and forgiveness is Truffenyi
The earth and beauty is of Hav'roth

  Praise unto the gods!

Mendi's Sunflower Retreat in Zoluren

[The Strand, Tree-lined Path]
The thickly wooded area surrounding the footpath does an admirable job of ensconcing the area in deep black shadows. Fastened securely to the many trees along the border, glowing gaethzen globes add a touch of manmade art to the natural environment. Noisy crickets chirp their rhythmic tones every now and then to break the night's silence. You also see an ivy-covered fieldstone retreat standing amidst a riotous multitude of sunflowers, an unremarkable cabin, a lavish alder-gabled residence and a capacious willow tree with a squirrel's nest inside a branch's knothole.

>look wall
Woven into the warp of the cobalt blue linen are evenly-spaced filaments of shimmering gold, their metallic sheen appearing to almost ripple like quicksilver with the slightest movement. The closely spaced golden threads interact with the background fabric to create the illusion of pinstriping that runs vertically along the surface of the walls. Gold leaf covers the carved cup-and-ball motif on the crown molding, helping to bring out the accents of the metallic fibers in the textile-covered walls.

Notes

  • Grew up in Leth and then Crossing, and more recently spent time in Zaldi Taipa, which she at last considers her home despite an at times tenuous relationship with her heritage. Currently lives nearby, in the apple orchards north of Shard.
  • Is in the process of overcoming a wildly severe case of shyness. Has gotten much better about not blushing every time someone looks at her, and this is amazing progress that makes her 150% more tolerable to be around, probably.
  • Is married to Dawnsworn Briaen Huns, Knight Penitent of Berengaria and Wearer of the Best Titles.
  • Her name is short for "Geshemendira," or "frozen treasure."
  • As is common among Wind Elves, she has had many names over the years. Her heart name is now known by only one living soul, perhaps two.
  • Loves flowers and prefers to see them happy and alive and growing in place, rather than picking them.
  • Wishes to befriend every animal in the realms that isn't actively trying to murder her. Her pets include: an orange and white kitten, a tubby honey badger, a fuzzy brown sea otter, a tiny warty piglet, a pudgy river rat, and a portly jaguar-spotted kitten with onyx rosettes and oversized beige paws.
  • Once ran off-stage and into the night during a dramatic bout of stage fright at Shard's illustrious Shoan a Sidelkuloa.
  • Is extremely insecure about her singing ability, but is attempting to hone her skills after receiving some excellent advice from a mentor on the intertwined nature of talent and hard work.
  • Always carries a caddy full of Madikh's sassafras tea from the Lamb's Shank, in case of emergency.
