blackened steel broadsword
Look: Though traces of excellent workmanship still show, this blade has obviously seen better days. Careful etching along the blade has been nearly melted away by some great conflagration. Charred strips of leather adorn the nondescript, sooty hilt, and the setting for a large and presumably valuable pommel stone is empty. It seems unlikely that whoever or whatever originally wielded this blade met with a peaceful end.

What etching hasn't been melted into indecipherable slag reads, "The s rd is m htier than h pell."
