Description

Surrounded by twitching tendrils of wispy light the nimbus could be mistaken for a particularly ill-tempted will-o'-the-wisp. Closer inspection reveals a pale imp-like body, with four clawed arms twisted with excessive joints. Softly glowing swirls of color drift aimlessly along its skin as it silently hovers slightly off the ground.

The plural of nimbus is nimbi or nimbuses.

In Depth

A blast of chill wind heralds a spiteful nimbus as it pops into existence.

Light bursts forth as an infinitesimal crack in reality forms. Four clawed arms reach through the breach, forcing it open further to allow passage for a spiteful nimbus. It examines its new surroundings as the planar rip mends itself.

Comes in varieties of: hateful, maimed, malicious, baleful, malevolent, spiteful, vindictive (possibly more).

Rampaging nimbuses are the invasion flavor.

Has a power similar to Divine Radiance active.

After death, the body of a nimbus may turn into one or more thealstones.
Example: The lifeless hateful nimbus disintegrates into motes of light that coalesce into a white thealstone.

Rapid Claw Attack

The hateful nimbus explodes in a blinding flash of light! The sudden assault leaves you stunned as spots dance through your vision.

Recall

Native to the Plane of Probability the nimbuses are frigid beings of solidified starlight. Like most interlopers from that plane, their usual method of interaction is violent and inexplicably hostile.

The favorite tactic of the nimbus is to briefly gather its strength before giving off a blinding burst of light. The nimbus will generally follow this assault with rapid claw attacks on its now disabled opponent.

Due to their starlight-based physiology, nimbuses are particularly vulnerable to shadow-based attacks. However, they are highly resistant to cold attacks, and will actually draw strength from light-based magics.

Bugs

Despite it's recall, it's not unusually affected by either light or shadow attacks. A GM has stated this is likely to change once Magic 3.0 is released.
