Leather armor, Bone armor, and Cloth armor have been combined into the Light Armor skill. This skill determines your ability with all of these kinds of armor. |
|||
=Cloth Armor= |
|||
*Cloth armor is generally best suited against impact and cold attacks, and to a lesser degree electrical attacks. When considering armor think more along the lines of a ski jacket rather than a thin t-shirt. |
|||
*Cloth armor has the absolute lowest stealth hindrance possible short of forgoing armor altogether. |
|||
===History of Cloth Armor=== |
|||
*1/18/2012: Players can make cloth armor. |
|||
*2/20/2007: Cloth Armor skill (and Bone Armor skill) are made to count towards guild armor requirements. |
|||
*2/13/2007: The first shop to sell Cloth (and Bone) armor opens in the Seacaves as a sort of Premium preview. It was called Skin and Bones. |
|||
*2/11/2007: Cloth Armor skill (and Bone Armor skill) is fully functional, but no cloth armor is available for purchase at this time. |
|||
=Leather Armor= |
|||
The leather armor is the popular choice of armor for guild association is::Rangers, Thieves and guild association is::Barbarians due to the generally low hindrance and tiny penalty to stealth. A full set of leather armor which covers your body can range anywhere from very light with little hinderance to insanely heavy (600+ stones) and very hindering. |
|||
Prior to tanned leather armor popular leather armor included a and a which were known to be very heavy while providing fairly good protection at the time. Since the advent of tanned leather armor both the Aged Combats and Ironbark Leathers have all but become obsolete. |
|||
Due to rather poor absorption ratings compared to forged chain and plate, leather is not often used among other guilds. |

Without considering total hindrance, it seems the best setup for bone armor is a 5 piece set from the shops. They all appear to have the same stats but weigh up to 250 stones less. The total hindrance could be different, and is worthy of investigation. |

===Armor Sets=== |

There are a number of festival and store-bought bone armor sets available. Access to the always available store items is restricted by either guild or Premium subscriber status. It is currently undetermined whether the festival bone armor is superior in defense to the store-bought armor. |

The bone armor that is currently available protects primarily against slicing damage. Hindrance for Bone armor lies somewhere between heavy chain and heavy plate. Stealth hindrance for bone lies between leather and light chain. Protection against piercing damage is not good and is terrible versus impact. Leather armor, Bone armor, and Cloth armor have been combined into the Light Armor skill. This skill determines your ability with all of these kinds of armor.
Cloth Armor
- Cloth armor is generally best suited against impact and cold attacks, and to a lesser degree electrical attacks. When considering armor think more along the lines of a ski jacket rather than a thin t-shirt.
- Cloth armor has the absolute lowest stealth hindrance possible short of forgoing armor altogether.
History of Cloth Armor
- 1/18/2012: Players can make cloth armor.
- 2/20/2007: Cloth Armor skill (and Bone Armor skill) are made to count towards guild armor requirements.
- 2/13/2007: The first shop to sell Cloth (and Bone) armor opens in the Seacaves as a sort of Premium preview. It was called Skin and Bones.
- 2/11/2007: Cloth Armor skill (and Bone Armor skill) is fully functional, but no cloth armor is available for purchase at this time.
Leather Armor
The leather armor is the popular choice of armor for Rangers, Thieves and Barbarians due to the generally low hindrance and tiny penalty to stealth. A full set of leather armor which covers your body can range anywhere from very light with little hinderance to insanely heavy (600+ stones) and very hindering.
Prior to tanned leather armor popular leather armor included Aged Combat Leathers and ironbark Leathers which were known to be very heavy while providing fairly good protection at the time. Since the advent of tanned leather armor both the Aged Combats and Ironbark Leathers have all but become obsolete.
Due to rather poor absorption ratings compared to forged chain and plate, leather is not often used among other guilds.

Training Strategies
The bone armor that is currently available protects primarily against slicing damage. Hindrance for Bone armor lies somewhere between heavy chain and heavy plate. Stealth hindrance for bone lies between leather and light chain.[1] Protection against piercing damage is not good and is terrible versus impact. High hindrance and poor overall protection makes bone armor's usefulness extremely limited as most slicing attacks are coupled with impact damage.
