I think having NPCs tagged according to province isn't going to be very helpful for us and it will, ultimately, just clutter up the category. Since NPCs can (and do) move around, a province affiliation is a pretty weak category (unlike, say, Elf). As for characters with strong province affiliations, such as Vorclaf, we can expect the article to make that very obvious. To be honest, I don't see much use for the category at all. --[[User:Basselope|Basselope]] 00:20, 8 December 2007 (CST)

Ooookies, the categories for Therengia are many! And I think they keep multiplying. What are we going to do with all the NPCs in this category? Are they the families located in Therengia? If so... the category needs to be changed to something more descriptive. Or the Great Houses of Therengia needs to be turned into a category.--Naeya (talk) 21:55, 7 December 2007 (CST)

A lot of the Great Houses do not have the number of NPCs associated with it either actual or mentioned in history to warrant a category in my opinion. In the talk:Theren it was pointed out that having categories and articles was acceptable, but what happens when you have so little content? In the case of some families you have maybe one NPC and then the information derived out of the Morzindaen book.

I see the individual family getting a category created, a blip of info on them, in that blip a reference to Great Houses of Therengia, and then calling it good. We just don't have enough information to warrant long detailed histories that require their own article in my opinion.Maje 22:13, 7 December 2007 (CST)

Well what I was getting at, is basically what Basselope posted. If there are individual NPCs in a family, I say 2+, make the family article into a category, put the NPCs in that category (eg Category:House Theren or Category:Theren (though I prefer the former. If, however, there are no members of the family here on Elanthipedia, leave it as an article. I propose changing Great Houses of Therengia to a Category, removing the list of houses of course, in favor of putting the individual house articles or categories in that category. Zip, zam, boom, we're done.
But yes, I agree that categorizing NPCs just by Province is not necessary and will become overly cumbersome. The fact that they are in a House category (since most are defined by their houses in their descriptions) will give evidence enough of their home province. Let me know if my meaning isn't clear now.--Naeya (talk) 00:38, 8 December 2007 (CST)
The only thing I see bad about calling it House Theren is that we'd have to do that for all of the families that make up the Morzindaen and they'd all be lumped under H. Maje 03:27, 8 December 2007 (CST)
I would suggest the creation of a general clan/house category. The Great Houses of Therengia may not have enough weight for a category in themselves, but there are a few dozen houses and clans in DR. The C and H would still be the primary parts of the category, which is somewhat unavoidable, unless some of the clans were listed with their native titles. Even if it was kept to just "political houses", there are applicable families in Qi and Zoluren as well as Therengia. --Porlock 08:03, 8 December 2007 (CST)
Actually, no, if you do [[Category:CategoryName|letter]] the article will be alphabetized under whatever letter you choose. I'm sorry, but I still believe the category for the Houses of Therengia are the way to go. Now, are they all called Morzindaen? Would that be more appropriate than Great Houses of Therengia?--Naeya (talk) 10:17, 8 December 2007 (CST)
Yes, they are most commonly referred to as Morzindaen. So you want the family Theren to be in both category Morzindaen and Families? Maje 17:07, 8 December 2007 (CST)
Meh, complications. Hmm, we could put Morzindaen in Families. Edit: Looking more into it, I'd be inclined to say just "Great Houses of Therengia" for the category, but all 17 houses in it, and then making a note up top saying Theren is not Morzindaen, it's the Zozindu. The others are the Morzindaen. --Naeya (talk) 17:53, 8 December 2007 (CST)
