==Standard Types==
These opals appear throughout Elanthia and seem to have the same properties as their real world equivalents.

There are two classes of opal referred to as precious and common. Precious opal displays iridescence and common opal does not. Depending on the conditions in which it formed, opal may be transparent, translucent, or opaque with a background color of white, black, or nearly any color. Black opal is considered to be the rarest, while white, grey, and green are most common.
