a class-A Terald share

This share is written on yellowed parchment in an elegant script.
A class-A Terald share reads:

The bearer of this share understands that there is risk and uncertainty associated with as. In return for the financing of one-hundred (100) platinum lirums of standard weight, the bearer of this share will be entitled to a portion of the proceeds of ancient goods discovered in Terald's next expedition. This portion will take the form of a 20% return on the money invested, or a single item found with an appraised value of under 175 platinums, *only* if the venture is successful.

Many people decided that Terald had scammed them, and the Terald shares were thought to be nothing more then the remaining evidence of a huckster's fraud.

Archaeologist Terald Sanfala was both an archaeologist and a merchant, famous for his explorations and recovered artifacts of a rare, expensive and somewhat unique nature.

Terald was first seen prior to and during the first Festival in Theren. During a festival in Therengia many items of his were stolen from the auction by Sorrow and several of Sorrow's associates. These items were recovered and returned in time for the auction.

The stolen items were:

One of the items, the antique silver ring, was bought by Romeode and induced visions regarding the creation of the Zaulfung Stones.

Terald's Expedition

In addition to providing the amazing 'finds' for the auction, Terald sold shares for his next great expedition. Players paid 100 plat per ticket to fund his next endeavor. Terald disappeared after the festival, and wasn't seen for several years.

Many people decided that Terald had scammed them, and the Terald shares were thought to be nothing more then the remaining evidence of a huckster's fraud.

Remarkably, several years later Terald resurfaced with a request for those who held the shares what became known as Terald's Expedition. (2007)

Imperial Palm Inn, Ratha, Third Tier

Famed Archaeologist Terald Sanfala needs your help! All those adventurers with Class-A shares are invited to take a hand in Terald's latest adventure! Terald is besieged by vermin and brain teasing puzzles at his latest dig site. Are you brave enough to help him reach his goal?

A few years later, Terald was involved in the opening of the zombie togball area in Boar Clan. Where he led a group to try to recover a rare artifact/item. The local shaman asked them to stop, but Terald insisted and the adventurers ended up desecrating graves/sacred ground where the zombie togballers are now located.

Terald managed to disappear after this and wasn't seen until he donated (for a fee) artifacts to be placed in Crossing's Trader plaza for a fee paid to him by the Trader guild.

Several years later, Terald met with the Owirvald Auction Company arranged to sell them some of his rare finds, with the idea of starting a nice slush fund for his next dig. Additionally he donated (for a small payment) a rare statue of Belirendrick I to Raven's Court to be placed in expanded VIP Housing area.

A short time before his death, he returned to Elanthia and sent messages to all of his shareholders to meet with him at a tavern in Ratha. He told them about a missing fleet of ships that he had been searching for, that he believed was carrying a great treasure, and he wanted to include his shareholders in any archaeological discovery. He then led whichever shareholders were present beneath a temple and into a secret passage, requiring them to use their share for admission. The cave-like tunnels seemed to be a former hideout for Dragon Priests, and a dragon statue with a mural was discovered, which turned out to be a dragon airship painted with a mural carrying away a man who looked like Lanival. Suddenly, Terald was kidnapped! He was later discovered hurt and stunned just over a small cliff drop-off, and next to him was an ancient chest. Inside the chest were small winged lizards, all with various gem encrusted eyes. Each shareholder was allowed to take one lizard as a reward.

Mysteriously, and shortly after the quest with his shareholders, Terald was murdered in the Rest of Ages, Leth Deriel.
