Description

The tenebraeling is a little bundle of bristling black fur, grasping claws, and a flurry of rapidly beating wings. Its ugly, batlike face with its beady eyes is barely visible amidst the rest of its chaotic form.

In Depth

Tenebraelings are violent, weak shadow creatures that most often are seen emerging through rogue moongates. They attack in large numbers, but are otherwise of little concern.

Recall

Tenebraelings were one of the first shadow creatures encountered and documented, though there continues to be some debate about their exact classification. On one hand they are clearly constructed of shadows and share much of their physiology with the common shadowling. On the other they seem to be an embodiment of frenzy, albeit a tiny one, which would characterize them as an entirely different species of Probabilistic creature.

Many theories try to reconcile this apparent problem in classification. Some scholars propose they are in fact a fourth branch of denizen, others conjecture that there must be tenebraelings that embody other concepts that haven't been observed. The most droll theory is that there is no contradiction at all -- its proponents offer only one piece of evidence; the house cat.

Due to their shadow-based physiology, creatures such as these are particularly vulnerable to light-based lunar magic. However, they are generally resistant damage and will actually draw strength from shadow-based lunar magic.

They are not known to cast any recognized spells.
They are not known to carry loot in locked boxes.

Skill

Was able to hit with non-blessed weapons at 65 ranks (and they didn't even give me experience), and was completely avoiding attacks with ~70 evasion.

I'm gonna guess these are closer to jackals in difficulty than sand sprites.

Messaging

A tenebraeling just flew in, making odd little snickering noises.
