Berdna, one of the three cities (along with Gardul and Fashein) comprising the Dwarven [[Gardul Free State]], is overrun by biters that erupt out of the earth into the Dwarven tunnels. The Free State is reconstituted as the [[Greystar Commune]] to prevent the destruction of the other communities, under a Tetrach of military commanders chosen by advanced age and lot.
