Created by an unknown probabilistic entity of coordination, crauyarin scuttlers are constructs that could approximately be characterized as a cross between a millipede and a geometry lecture. The pulses along their bodies may be what passes for simple communication processes.

The scuttlers are well adapted to various threats, being more than capable of defending themselves. Though highly aggressive, it is unclear if they can derive sustenance from organic matter, and it has been theorized that their behavior may be better described as territoriality. Diligently reshaping the topology of their incursion by carving and stacking rock and stone, the scuttlers labor as a group towards a common goal -- though what that goal is remains unclear.

Certain Lunar equipment, such as Moonblade and Regalia, have proven useful in dealing with these creatures.

They are known to cast Trabe Chalice, and Crystal Dart.

These creatures are constructs created in the Plane of Abiding, and are not planar life.

They use use CRD and TRC, and when there are three or more of them in the same room, they will gain the effect of Enrichment. Enrichment grants a large damage bonus to the next Crystal Dart cast, after which the bonus will recharge over a minute as long as Enrichment is up.

Additionally, the scuttlers have unique interactions with Moonblades and Regalia. For now, we'll let intrepid lunar magicians experiment.

Description

With a central body composed of conjoined geometric shapes and layered angular plating of milky red crystal, the scuttler quickly races along on its multitude of segmented, pointed limbs. Its every movement sounds faintly of shattering glass, and it appears comfortable moving in either forward or backward directions, each end terminating in the same cluster of darker material and spear-like protrusion. Internal energies pulse along the creature's body and limbs, and it moves with deadly grace.

Interaction with Spells

Using Moonblade seems to counteract the Crystal Dart spell cast by the scuttlers. The moonblade absorbs the dart and turns crystalline red.

    For some reason, an enriched crauyarin scuttler seems inordinately fixated on your black moonblade.
The crauyarin scuttler molds a glassy red dart from shimmering light and flings it at your moonblade!
The dart explodes into a cloud of crystal dust which is absorbed into the moonblade, tinting it bloody.
