Description
Composed of a mass of churning shadows, the maeldryth's amorphous form is clearly of foreign origin to this plane. Dozens of tentacles snake outward from the nexus of inky blackness, sweeping aimlessly through the air in languid, almost lethargic strokes.
In Depth
- They are Maelshyve's demonic children.
- They cannot be harmed by anything other than the Uncurse spell.
- Their special attack is a kind of spiritual poison following a rather lengthy immobilization.
- They have no physical attack.
Special Attack
A maeldryth drifts close to <Person>, its tentacles enfolding him in a morbid embrace. <Person> freezes rigidly, his eyes gaping vacantly in shock.
<Person>'s rigid body suddenly goes limp, held eerily aloft by a maeldryth's ethereal tentacles.
A maeldryth traces strange sigils on the floating body of <Person> with its tentacles, leaving behind a powerful dark-purple radiance that slowly sinks into his flesh.
<Person> shudders violently in the air, gritting his teeth in sudden agony. His limbs twitch benignly as the maeldryth hovers above, caressing his body with its vaporous tendrils.
The maeldryth's tentacles abruptly recoil, unwinding themselves from around <Person>'s form. With a dull thud, he drops to the ground, his eyes rolling into the back of his head as he reels from some unseen visceral assault.
A maeldryth slowly drifts further away from <Person>, looking for a fresh victim.
