:The way the #ifeq's are set up, if the values for scroll, held, or target are anything but yes, it will interpret as a 'no', and the icon won't appear (nor category be set). Truthfully, I don't think it's such a big deal since I think anyone able to use the template in the first place will be able to fix a caps error if they do it wrong. If this is an easy thing to adjust, then by all means go ahead and do so. It'll give me an opportunity to learn what you're talking about. --Farman 03:22, 2 May 2007 (CDT)

:Perhaps a field for minimum mana held for held mana spells? It should be easy to implement. Take a look at Template:Map infobox for some #if statements that might fit? Example, the held mana field can be made not to even show up if the value is blank. --Naeya (talk) 09:40, 2 May 2007 (CDT)

Good idea, maybe that should morph the 'min prep' field for a held spell. I don't think we want to hide the field entirely since there are going to be a bunch of blank entries given I don't have the data to put in. --Farman 11:50, 2 May 2007 (CDT)

Looking at it 'the day after' I really hate the title bar color. Early on last night, I had a quick go at photoshop to replace the background color on the mini icons but the results weren't that great given the small size of the art and the lightness of the star in the held icon. New art would be great, but that's not one of my strengths.

Also I think the guild thumbnail makes the title bar too heavy and cluttered. I'm thinking of putting it instead in a second box that would appear to the right of this one, to let you quickly navigate through that guild's spells. --Farman 12:03, 2 May 2007 (CDT)

:How about just changing "Minimum Prep" and "Casting Cap" to "Minimum Mana" and "Maximum Mana", to cover all spells? Then all held-mana spells could be handled like Centering, for example. There are a few other non-infused held-mana spells with known caps as well.
:One thing that caught my eye in the template was the second big title (in the Simu-color bar). While it'd look nice for the rare spells with page titles like "Holy Warrior (Spell)", I feel it's unnecessary overall. --Aetherie 12:38, 2 May 2007 (CDT)

I hate the color of that bar, and I agree it's too thick. Having the guild thumbnail image there makes it a lot bigger than it should be. I like having the spell title directly above the infobox however. That seems to be accepted practice for infoboxes on Wikipedia, and a little redundancy doesn't hurt. It boils down to a matter of taste I suppose, but I'm inclined to leave it.
I've altered the template to move the guild thumbnail below the box for now. That should make the title bar less clunky. See the change here on the Regenerate spell article. --Farman 17:16, 2 May 2007 (CDT)

how about we go with the "leave blank" style for this, and simplify it (so case on YES doesn't matter)

targetted=yes (or blank/missing) scrollonly=yes (or blank/missing) held=yes (or blank/missing)

would imo make the template easier to "use". --Callek 01:37, 2 May 2007 (CDT)

(p.s. no need to migrate this talk page if you MOVE this page)

There you go snooping on my sandboxes again :P
As you might tell, I'm very much a beginner in wiki syntax so I'm not familiar with "leave blank". I've spent all night looking up CSS syntax and ParserFunctions, and I'm done looking at my computer screen tonight ;)
The way the #ifeq's are set up, if the values for scroll, held, or target are anything but yes, it will interpret as a 'no', and the icon won't appear (nor category be set). Truthfully, I don't think it's such a big deal since I think anyone able to use the template in the first place will be able to fix a caps error if they do it wrong. Ready for release?

OK I think it's ready. I have applied the new template to the Regenerate spell as an example.

The big outstanding issue I have with it is the color of the title bar, which I was forced into because of the background color of the SIMU held, scroll, and target icons. When I release this into the wild I will solicit new art on the project page with an alpha background so we can pick a better color, or go back to the wikitable default.

It will be a major undertaking to update all the spells and enchantes (150-200 pages, roughly?) to fit this template so that's another big thing to think about.

Any ideas on how to improve it? Anything you hate/love about it? --Farman 04:50, 2 May 2007 (CDT)
