Venefica

A venefica is a woman whose body is made toxic using experimental unknown alchemical processes started close to birth. This process causes the bodily fluids (such as saliva or blood) of the woman to be painful or even fatally poisonous to those that ingest or come into contact with them. This process tends to affect the mind as well, though, leading to irrationality and insanity later in life.

The first known venefica was a woman named Agnese who served as Natashya Dalterein's maid upon her arrival to the Zoluren royal court. She disappeared for unknown reasons and may be dead. The second generation was the maiden Alrina who was also a servant of Natashya given to her by Aedem who proved to be a more potent and unstable experiment.
