Re: Sark's Revamp

Considering that the primer itself was gathered from collective sources over the course of several years, finding a source for each entry will not really happen and isn't worth the work since a S'Kra Dictionary will be released by GMs in due time.  :)
I really like the work you've done on the page though. It's nice to know it's still getting some love.

Sarkranis's Revamp

Isharon 19:42, 2 December 2010 (UTC): I've revised the dictionary to make it more informative, consistent, and user-friendly. Some of the changes that I made:

  • Merged all entries (previously divided into separate tables by initial letter) into one sortable table
  • Made all text lower-case (unless it is a proper noun)
  • Corrected spelling errors (mostly in the Common translations)
  • Added links to relevant Elanthipedia articles
  • Moved usage notes into a separate column
  • Added an etymology column for those entries whose meanings differ from the literal translations
  • Replaced "unknown meaning" with a blank (easier on the eyes)
  • Added some words whose meaning can be inferred from other canon phrases
  • Removed words that are not S'Kra (for example, the Ilithic trefan)
  • Removed proper nouns with no known meaning (for example, Urhhsu, the name of a Rathan king)
  • Move proper names (people and places) to their own section entitled "Names Derived From S'Kra."

Planned updates:

  • Add sources for each entry (if known)
  • Add/reorganize information about grammar and pronunciation
  • Create a new article about S'Kra Mur Naming Conventions that will be linked to the S'Kra Mur Language article. That is where I'll list the proper names that were removed from this article. (I plan to list every canon S'Kra name, its gender, its meaning, and its source.)

December Update

Removed Shu and Shuzh as these words were improperly translated and actually not even words. Made sure all of the weapons were also in the Dictionary portion. Plans to remove Weapon area, haven't really decided. Also edited few minor things.

Revamp

Moved dictionary words into tables, adjusted other sections for better organization and readability. Moved Smozh's work into a table and added links to Ratha House pages.

What a coincidence! I am working on a second revamp that includes the word, the part of speech, the meaning, and the source. (Because there is no dictionary, the sources vary and are sometimes hard to remember.)

I plan to separate the food, clothing, and weapons into their own lists.

I am also working on an article about S'Kra Mur Naming Conventions, so any proper names (especially those without translations) will be moved there.

Hahaha, I don't think I could remember the sources for even half of the words I've found over the years. I can only say that S'Kra GMs keep up with it and I always check back with them since they have the unreleased dictionary.

Wiki Location

Nice work. Would you like to move this to Eth'ral'khh or S'Kra Mur (language)? I'm unsure which is more appropriate for general use. --Aetherie 14:38, 14 May 2008 (CDT)

Well, This isn't Eth'ral'khh, so the second would most likely be better. -Steph
