Number of Spells Thresholds

I don't see a list of # stored spells thresholds so I would like to contribute my experience.

At around 200 HM 180 Utility with SAP and Utility Specialist feat, I was only able to store 2 spells in the orb. (Bless and SOL) At around 229 HM 209 Utility with SAP and Utility specialist feat, recasting OM (still from the same single favor orb source), it refreshes my capacity and I am suddenly able to store 3 spells when immediately prior failing to store the 3rd spell. - In this, I've tried MPP+MAPP+SOL as well as SOL+BLESS+MAPP

I have heard anecdotes that it is based on spell slots/spell levels, but that does not seem to be the case for me. My tests are from normal play through and combat, and not scientific comparison/calcualting spell level/slots, however.

Additionally, even with 3 spells stored, "harness 5" "infuse OM 5" every 18-20 seconds is sustainable indefinitely. Infusing 4 is not enough. --BEYONDDISBELIEF (talk) 12:53, 15 September 2016 (CDT)

Compatible Spells

I am able to weave POM into the orb, which was not listed as compatible spells. --BEYONDDISBELIEF (talk) 12:53, 15 September 2016 (CDT)

New Capacity @ 1400 PM

  • I died and made a new orb and have a new capacity, added it in at <=1400 PM, not sure when it happened though. RAISER (talk) 18:48, 29 June 2016 (CDT)

DR 3.0 Switchover

My OM orb seems to be broken after the 3.0 switchover. It cannot be recharged with additional mana. --Endair 23:45, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

It turns out you now have to INFUSE mana into the orb. In 2.0, you recasted the OM spell on the orb. --Endair 03:02, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

This is false, you cast the spell onto your orb to recharge it at 100% mana efficiency, infuse to charge faster but at a less mana efficient rate.

> cast orb

You gesture over the shadowy orb, muttering tones of enchantment!

The power of your spell wreathes the shadowy orb in a shroud of misty white light. The shroud frays into wispy tendrils that mimic the actions of
your gestures, caressing the surface of the orb with a deft touch. Slowly the tendrils meld with it, sinking into its core and infusing it with pure
holy energy. A faint tingle washes through you as some of the energy is diffused, the orb having reached its full capacity.
Roundtime: 9 sec.

> infuse om 50

>
You tap into the mana from fifty of the surrounding streams and attempt to keep it channeling in a stream around you.
Roundtime: 1 sec.
You concentrate intently, attempting to infuse a vast amount of your harnessed mana into your active Osrel Meraud spell pattern.
Roundtime: 1 sec.
You sense that you were able to channel roughly three-fourths of your infusion's power into a shadowy orb rippling with silver arcs of light. A
faint tingle washes through you as some of the energy is diffused, the orb having reached its full capacity.

Orb ran out of mana on me, I recharged it and noticed it bumped up to the next level, at 1194 PM (1122 Utility, 1160 Arcana). -May 25, 2015.
At 1100 PM (was actually at 1104), I did NOT get a new sized orb, will try again at 1150. -Feb 2, 2015.
-Decided to try my luck and make a new orb, got a new capacity, added it to the list at <=1k PM.
> focus orb
You graze your fingertips over the surface of the shadowy orb, feeling the crackling energy coursing through your hands.

The orb resonates with a cache of holy mana. You perceive a slight tugging sensation, and realize that it is receptive to magical energy.
The pervasiveness of the sensation evokes the image of Elanthia's tides rising toward Katamba in your mind's eye.
The strength of the sensation evokes the image of flaming magma pouring through a volcanic crevasse.(9/10)
You sense the Major Physical Protection spell woven into the magical matrix of the orb.
You sense the Benediction spell woven into the magical matrix of the orb.
You sense the Persistence of Mana spell woven into the magical matrix of the orb.
You sense the Halo spell woven into the magical matrix of the orb.
You sense the Minor Physical Protection spell woven into the magical matrix of the orb.
You sense the Shield of Light spell woven into the magical matrix of the orb.

>touch orb You reach up with open palms and cradle the floating shadowy orb, allowing the light to ripple over your entire body. You sense a tugging sensation from the center of the orb, pulling at your consciousness.

Roundtime: 10 sec. You sense the shadowy orb attempting to absorb the prepared spell in your mind. You successfully weave the Shield of Light spell into the receptive aura of the orb, and feel the energies seeping down into the magic of its very core!

In a fiery blaze, a flickering target shield appears in your left hand.

Magical Devices: 70

So much for that chart.

(no, no boosts to MD)

The chart was originally taken verbatim from User:Aetherie's old site (which unfortunately doesn't seem to have been archived anywhere before Geocities went kaput) with a few of the combos added in based on my experience and posts from play.net. This is the original version
http://elanthipedia.com/w/index.php?title=Osrel_Meraud&oldid=45608. I added SoL/Centering in later based off of attempts with my Cleric, but I had around 87 MD when I got OM, so feel free to change -- I don't think since you found one error that the whole thing should be scrapped, though. --Thilan 18:05, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Does Mana Of Spells Effect Quality of Spell In Orb?

Does the amount of mana that you initially cast a spell at change the effectiveness of the spell in the orb? ...or does mana cast at only effect duration, and thus rest as irrelevant for the purposes of loading the orb? KASHNA (talk) 21:23, 1 August 2016 (CDT)

Just noticed your question was never answered, we'll use Benediction as an example, it caps at 100 mana. If you stuff Benediction into your orb at 50 mana, then you'll only get a 50% effective Benediction, just like if you just cast it on yourself, the only difference is the duration won't matter since it's in the orb. Short answer, put spells into the orb at your personal cap. Also from what we've been able to tell you get the same mana drain rate out of the orb whether you min prep spells you put in there or cap them so it's in your best interest to cast them as high as you can.
