Samite is a luxurious and heavy pure silk fabric with a velvety hand and a satin-like and shiny finish. It has a twill-type weave, often including gold or silver threads. It consists of two warps, a ground warp – building the pattern – and a binding warp. At least two wefts are woven in diagonal lines.
