Empaths now have the ability to engage in combat with constructs.

What exactly qualifies as a construct? Any creature that is created by and controlled by an outside force, and has no independent will or life force of its own. This can include things like golems, machines, and inanimate objects that have been animated by magic. It does not include undead, although some creatures that may appear undead may actually be constructs.

Here are a few details:

(1) An Empath can discover whether or not a creature is safe to attack by using PERCEIVE <target>. If it will not cause shock, it will say so.

(2) An Empath MUST include the name of the target in all attacks. Autotarget features will not work for Empaths to prevent accidentally acquiring a target that might cause shock if their intended target dies or disappears unexpectedly. If this is something we can change, we will, but for now, BE CAREFUL.

(3) This update includes both normal combat and spells, so Empaths can use spells like Energy Bolt or Strange Arrow on constructs.

As of now, there is only one live creature and one invasion creature that officially qualify as a construct. Those would be the boggle and (surprise!) the dolls, so feel free to test this new feature out on them, but be sure to test out PERCEIVE first to make sure it qualifies and to get used to using the command!

Over the next few weeks we'll be releasing a few more constructs for Empaths to play with. Be aware that it is going to be a long while before we have enough to fill all the hunting levels, but we'll try to keep a steady stream of them coming out over the rest of the year.

HUGE thanks to Dartenian who worked most of the day ironing out the last of the bugs.

This is live in Plat and Prime as of now. TF will follow when we think everything is safe.
