I typed that up in a hurry, so it might've been less clear than it could've been.

Generally for enchanted stuff, I'm a strong advocate of the idea that the magical device doesn't really need to look like anything in particular. The magical pattern is the magical pattern and doesn't necessarily care if it's a cloak or a belt, or a bandana versus a sock.

Gwethdesuans aren't a general enchanted item, though. Teh Lorez for them need to account for the fact that they're so easy to use that anyone can put a pair on, it doesn't require any magical talent, and doesn't even shake a Barbarian's Inner Fire. We do this by saying that the "guts" of the gwethdesuan are not the enchantment the Moon Mages do, but the supernatural properties of the stones which the enchantment activates and fine-tunes.

At this point when designing a Teh Lorez, this suggests imposing aesthetic limitations on how the gwethdesuan can look and function, simply to help differentiate it from a normal enchanted object and not just make this conceptually magic+ ("It's like an enchanted object, but better in every way!"). My statement was that this argument doesn't say we couldn't ever say gwethdesuans can be worn on an armband or taped to the soles of your feet, but rather that there's a reason why I keep that mechanically meaningless limitation there.
