demonsbane leather

Rarity: Quest
Must be provided for alterations

In the years since the banishment of Maelshyve, demonscale leather is rumored to have been experimented on by private sects for both philosophical and educational purposes. One result of such alleged testing is an alchemical solution that oxidizes the surface in a mesh-like pattern of pale silver or gold lines, creating a visual effect reminiscent of holy light holding back a looming void. Like the base material, demonsbane leather should not be dyed to avoid erasing its distinctive coloring and evidence of its dangerous origins. The process, performed only on demonscale, requires significant time to achieve a permanent result.

Common Description: Naturally textured with large dark blue scales, demonsbane leather is covered with a network of silvery-white lines reminiscent of a shield of light holding back the midnight darkness. It should always be called demonsbane leather and not shortened the way demonscale can be.

Alteration Note: Demonsbane leather is a separate material and therefore must be supplied as demonsbane leather, not demonscale.

wolfsoul amber

Rarity: Quest
Must be provided for alterations

A priestess of Meraud uncovered the first stone after a holy bath and the subsequent vision of the god of foresight himself, in which he was seen bestowing prosperity on his followers. This coincidence gave rise to the unproven belief that the gem is a divine gift bestowed by Meraud upon his most faithful. The allegedly sacred origin has led to the mine’s location, somewhere along the rugged Aesry Surlaenis'a's rugged cliffs, being fiercely guarded by those who revere the legend.

Although named for its distinctive burnt gold hues, this gem is not a true resinous amber, but rather a chatoyant chrysoberyl encasing a vivid black core that resembles the piercing gaze of a wolf peering through a sun-dappled forest. While it can found in varying shades of light or dark amber (or amber-gold),it always has a strong yellow undertone and a distinct black "pupil" that refracts even the faintest light to create a subtle illusory effect of a soulful gaze following the observer.

Common Description: Usually displayed as a highly polished cabochon to best flaunt its unique qualities, the gleaming dark gold stone displays a refractive black center with subtle striations radiating outward.

witchweft

Rarity: Quest
Must be provided for alterations

Witchweft was born from an accidental discovery by weavers in a remote corner of Muspar'i. While experimenting with a new dyeing technique, they inadvertently ruined an expensive shipment of imported cotton fibers. Desperate to salvage the investment, they re-dyed the fibers black and attempted to hide the resulting thread as the weft filler in lighter-colored weaves. What began as an attempt to hide a mistake resulted in a striking effect—the lightweight chambray fabric took on an unusual shadowed depth. Witchweft, so fancifully named for the prevalence of black in the fine fabric and an attempt to sound mysterious, quickly gained fame for its shadowy appearance and superb quality. It does not drape well and remains slightly stiff, even after repeated washing.

Common Description: Usually found in deep, rich jewel tones to best showcase its coveted effect, the lightweight tightly woven fabric is infused with a subtle darkness, the black weft threads casting a shadow beneath the <color> weave.

hexwood

Rarity: Quest
Must be provided for alterations

Resulting from extended exposure to potently cursed creatures such as shadowfrost moths or elder adan'f, hexwood is not a unique species of tree but individual specimens forever altered by their proximity to dark magic. It is unknown what causes a tree to be susceptible to the transformation but the change is seemingly random, making the eerie-looking greyscale lumber rare and expensive.

Common Description: With all visual characteristics of its original species obliterated, hexwood is always light grey with bold black grain.
