A priestess of Meraud uncovered the first stone after a holy bath and the subsequent vision of the god of foresight himself, in which he was seen bestowing prosperity on his followers. This coincidence gave rise to the unproven belief that the gem is a divine gift bestowed by Meraud upon his most faithful. The allegedly sacred origin has led to the mine’s location, somewhere along the rugged Aesry Surlaenis'a's rugged cliffs, being fiercely guarded by those who revere the legend.

Although named for its distinctive burnt gold hues, this gem is not a true resinous amber, but rather a chatoyant chrysoberyl encasing a vivid black core that resembles the piercing gaze of a wolf peering through a sun-dappled forest. While it can found in varying shades of light or dark amber (or amber-gold),it always has a strong yellow undertone and a distinct black "pupil" that refracts even the faintest light to create a subtle illusory effect of a soulful gaze following the observer.

Introduced at Droughtman's Challenge 450.
