Cambrinth bug · on 5/27/2010 3:20:48 AM 2659
Lately I've been really frustrated with how long it takes to train Arcana. Today I tested cambrinth and the results are bad.

I tested by charging my faceted cambrinth orb with an amount of mana and rubbing my favor orb and counting how many rubs it takes to clear the exp. I did each test 3 times. I got the exact same result every time (unless my exp pulsed during a test. I discarded those tests.)

I made some observations while doing this.

Charging a cambrinth device while it is already full will grant only Harness experience.
Focusing on the orb gives the same amount of experience no matter the amount of mana in the device.
The rumors are false, faceted cambrinth orbs do leak mana.
The capacity of the cambrinth piece has no bearing on exp gained, so long as you're charging the same amount.

Now for the data:

Mana Rubs increase in mana % increase in exp
1 19 n/a n/a
2 19 1 0.00%
3 20 1 5.26%
4 22 1 10.00%
5 23 1 4.55%
6 25 1 8.70%
7 27 1 8.00%
8 29 1 7.41%
9 32 1 10.34%
10 36 1 12.50%
11 43 1 19.44%
12 43 1 0.00%
13 44 1 2.33%
14 44 1 0.00%
15 44 1 0.00%
20 45 5 2.27%
25 46 5 2.22%
30 47 5 2.17%
35 48 5 2.13%
40 48 5 0.00%
50 50 10 4.17%
100 52 50 4.00%
144 52 44 0.00%

It looks like the old model for exp is back! What happened?

Well until this gets fixed, charge your items with either 11 mana or as much as you can without running out of mana. Those few extra bits will add up over the half hour+ it takes to lock Arcana.

Thanks to Worrclan for pointing out to me that this bug possibly exists. I had been planning on testing the exp per mana point for charging but his information made me do it far sooner than I would have.
