A year or so ago I ran tests on the crossing HX, DSX, museum dragon, and slurbow to see how they stacked up against each other. One crossbow was notably absent from the mix - the crossing LX. I did a little testing back then with it, enough to prove to me a crossing LX does not hit as hard as a crossing HX. But I didn't get enough info to present the same kind of number crunching as with the other XB.

Today I ran the exact same test against rock trolls with LX. All the conditions were identical to the HX testing a year ago except my stats and skills are higher now. So I also reran the HX numbers to insure compatibility.

First, both XB ranks have grown from 57 back then to a senses-staggering 60 today! Yep, that's right, I've been working 'em hard. However, I doubt 3 ranks makes much of a difference.

Second, and more importantly, my agility is 20-25 points higher today than it was during the first tests. I was sure that would have an impact, but truth is I was astonished at how big the impact was. My performance with HX using storebought ammo was far better than it was in the old tests. I crunched the numbers twice to make sure I hadn't made a mistake. I'll include the crossbows from the older posts for reference purposes. Here's the link to the first post in the old thread. In it I explain how I calculate shot power since there's no point in repeating myself in this post.

Current results Using the Crossing LX and storebought ammo:

SHOT TO KILL RATIO

100 shots
 39 kills
2.56 shots per kill

SHOT RESULT SPREAD

 0 1-Shot Kills
17 2-Shot Kills
22 3-Shot Kills
 0 4-Shot Kills

FIRST/SECOND SHOT HIT POWER

First Shot Hit Power -- 12.87 (massive)
Second Shot Hit Power - 15.15 (earth-shaking)

...

Current results Using the Crossing HX and storebought ammo:

SHOT TO KILL RATIO

100 shots
 47 kills
2.13 shots per kill

SHOT RESULT SPREAD

 1 1-Shot Kill
39 2 Shot Kills
 7 3-Shot Kills
 0 4-Shot Kills

FIRST/SECOND SHOT HITTING POWER

First Shot Hit Power -- 15.04 (earth-shaking)
Second Shot Hit Power - 18.93 (devastating)

These results are consistent with what I observed a year ago. HX hits on average 3 to 3.5 categories harder than LX per shot. But now compare those new results with the following old results using storebought ammo:

DSX

100 shots
 41 kills
2.44 shots per kill

 0 1-shot kills
23 2-shot kills
18 3-shot kills
 0 4-shot kills

First Shot Hit Power -- 13.00 (awesome)
Second Shot Hit Power - 15.24 (earth-shaking)

...

CROSSING HX

102 shots
 42 kills
2.43 shots per kill

 0 1-Shot Kill
24 2-Shot Kills
18 3-Shot Kills
 0 4-Shot Kills

First Shot Hit Power -- 13.33 (awesome)
Second Shot Hit Power - 16.57 (demolishing)

...

DRAGON

101 shots
 42 kills
2.40 shots per kill

 0 1-Shot Kill
26 2-Shot Kills
15 3-Shot Kills
 1 4-Shot Kills

First Shot Hit Power -- 13.16 (awesome)
Second Shot Hit Power - 16.04 (demolishing)

...

SLURBOW

100 shots
 47 kills
2.13 shots per kill

 1 1-Shot Kill
39 2-Shot Kills
 7 3-Shot Kills
 0 4-Shot Kills

First Shot Hit Power -- 14.53 (vicious)
Second Shot Hit Power - 17.28 (spine-rattling)

My higher agility not only outperformed the old HX numbers, it equaled the slurbow on the first two tests and outperformed it on the third test. I really didn't expect that much of a difference. Now before someone gets too excited I need to add a note of caution. There's no question my current agility of 80 severely outclasses rock trolls. I don't think the numbers would scale as far apart were I shooting something at level in both tests. Still, even keeping that in mind, the difference is worth noting. And there's no doubt my old 55-60 agility in the first test outclassed rock trolls also.

You are certain that the light crossbow is far more balanced than the heavy crossbow.
You are certain that the light crossbow is far more suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength than the heavy crossbow.
You are certain that the light crossbow weighs less than the heavy crossbow.

Since the HX beats the LX hands down, yet the LX has the better stats, it suggests the hidden multipliers Damissak? told us about are still in effect. I've had people tell me there were no more multipliers, which if so means I've no way of explaining my results. So AFAIK the three stickbows still have their multipliers as well with composite bow > longbow > short bow. But the super damage of basilisk arrows might help cloud that if they're hitting a damage cap. It's not something I can readily test since my three stickbow rank numbers are all over the place.

If these skills are combined into XB and Bows this will soon be easier for more people to test.
