Restoring Mojo

Mojo can be restored through playing instruments or humming and by using the Practice Breathing and Stretching options.

Levels of Mojo

List of Mojo levels as provided by Practice Assessment, which is gained at level 30 and has (sing|play|dance|memory) options. Sing, play and dance all take 10 seconds of roundtime to execute, while memory has no roundtime but requires you to hold an instrument and forces you to a sitting position. These are listed from lowest to highest levels. The singing and memory options have seven apparent messaging tiers, while playing and dancing have ten. It's not yet cear how these different tiers relate or if there's missing messaging.

Play

Initial wording varies slightly by instrument.

Stringed: You hold your <instrument> gently, letting your hands wander across the strings seemingly aimlessly.
Percussion: You hold your <instrument> gently, letting your hands pick out a rhythm of their own choosing.
Wind: You hold your <instrument> carefully, exhaling softly into it as you let your breath and slight movements of your hands determine the song being played.

  • You stop only after a few moments, however, realizing that you cannot focus upon so much as the simplest musical phrase in your current state of mind.
  • Stumbling along passages that seemed clear in your mind, your fingers seem to tangle amongst themselves as you attempt to play. Somehow, you just don't feel very sure of your ability to perform just now.
  • Frustration wracks you as you seem unable to form a strong melody upon your bones, and your mind keeps wandering as you attempt to focus upon a specific tune to follow. After only a short moment you give up in exasperation and stop trying to play altogether.
  • You hesitate often as you play, the melody in your mind evading your grasp as you attempt to bring it to reality upon your bones. You shake your head slightly as you realize that you're not quite up to a true performance.
  • You hesitate slightly during a slow passage, unsure of where to take your song, but overall the music that is produced from your efforts is both clear and precise.
  • The music you produce is both confident and strong, displaying the surety you hold in your ability to perform.
  • The music produced by your efforts is flawless and clear, played with such confidence that the adeptness with which you perform your craft is evident in each movement.
  • The music you produce is playfully complex, weaving a delicate thread of melody in and out of a main theme with the skill and confidence of one talented in their craft.
  • The music produced is a seamless, graceful demonstration of the total perfection and confidence in both your own abilities and the mastery of your craft. Your spirit soars upon the evocative rhythms you send to float gently upon the air.
  • The music produced is a riveting, complex piece resplendent with flourishes that display the innate talent of your craft. You revel in the rich tones that form a tapestry of sound as colorful as a field of wild flowers in the foothills of Leth Deriel during the full throes of Spring.

Dance

  • You take a few moments to stretch and limber yourself up. As you finish, you make an attempt at one of the more popular dances, but after only a few steps you trip and fall flat onto your face. Wincing, you decide not to attempt that again, and get back to your feet.
  • You take a few moments to stretch and limber yourself up. As you finish, you make a small attempt at trying out a few dance steps, but you trip over your own feet and nearly take a fall. You catch yourself, but decide that now may not be the best time for dancing.
  • You take a few moments to stretch and limber yourself up. When you finish, you hesitatingly step into a well-known country dance, and manage to pull off about a minute's worth of dance steps before you stumble to a stop. You can't seem to recall what to do next, despite your best efforts.

As your feet touch down, you spin off into a series of elaborate dance steps that send you skipping across the ground. Your spirit seems to soar in the clouds, and you can't help but laugh aloud with the joy of the dance as you twist and turn to the rhythm of the music running through your mind. When you finally come to rest again, you are still smiling.
  • You take a few moments to stretch and limber yourself up before leaping into a twisting back flip that carries you a full six feet up into the air! As you come to rest upon the ground, you pause only a moment before launching off into a series of dance steps that leave you breathless and smiling with the enthusiasm of those purely content in what they do. Spontaneously, you flash a mischievous grin and begin to sing the music running through your mind, matching the words to each of your steps. When the verse ends, you wrap up with a flourish and pose, a wide smile upon your face.

Memory

Requires a held instrument and forces you to a sitting position. The message is always the same except for the final sentence and some minor differences based on the instrument used and the type of material it is made of.

Settling in to a comfortable position, you close your eyes and direct your senses towards the <instrument> in your right hand. Drawing a deep and calming breath, you detect the faintest, lingering smell of the scented cloths you've used to clean the instrument. Slight imperfections and features of its <material type> surface glide under your fingers.

A memory of a past performance surfaces, and you feel yourself falling into it. Complex rhythms and syncopations from a soaring melody fill the recollection as you pour all of your Bardic training into the moment. Your heart races with adrenaline, and elation fills you fully as the performance draws to a close. Perfection.

As the memory fades, you take stock of your current emotions, alertness, steadiness, preparedness, and all the Bardic Lore the guild has imparted through your training. You are certain that you could repeat that performance.

The last sentence determines your mojo level as follows:

  • You wonder if you could repeat that performance. (1/7)
  • You guess that you could repeat that performance. (2/7)
  • You believe that you could repeat that performance. (3/7)
  • You estimate that you could repeat that performance. (4/7)
  • You think it is likely that you could repeat that performance. (5/7)
  • You are confident that you could repeat that performance. (6/7)
  • You are certain that you could repeat that performance. (7/7)
