Syntax

  • STUDY PRIEST: You've overheard others asking the priest about a number of topics, including work, breach, Glythtide, Saemaus, Be'ort, khor'vela, balance, rewards, spiders and task.
  • ASK PRIEST ABOUT WORK:
Unexpectedly serious for a Halfling, the Halfling priest leans in and whispers, "We think our brothers and sisters of The Sickness went too far. We are all tasked with maintaining a balance so that the great khor'vela can continue to flourish; this sometimes means exposing it to harm so we may learn how to heal, restore and harden it to future infections."
He continues, "Ordinarily, our work in the sacred groves is done quietly, unknown to all but the highest among our faith. Be'ort, however, has tilted the balance, and now chaos spreads. The hidden rifts we use to move between the groves have been corrupted and exposed to all. They grow unstable, appearing and disappearing throughout the realms."
The Halfling leans closer still and whispers more quietly, "I don't know if The Hope has the tools for this level of corruption. Their duties are made more difficult with the never ending stream of corrupted beltunumshi sprining forth from the sacred tree."
The priest concludes, "There is much we could use help with to restore balance, and in the process perhaps we may also appease Be'ort enough to...ahem...shift his attentions elsewhere. If you're up to it, ASK me for a TASK, and I'll assign you work."
"So far you have been absolutely instrumental," he adds, "and we offer our sincere gratitude."

"We do appreciate your assistance, but I've got nothing further for you at the moment," says the priest.

  • ASK PRIEST ABOUT BREACH: The priest says, "According to the most recent sister of Saemaus to come from the sacred grove, there are aberrant breaches currently reported near these areas:"
  • note: the list of areas changes locations.
  • ASK PRIEST ABOUT GLYTHTIDE: The Halfling priest nods. "The patron Immortal of my people. Eternally happy, I am certain he sees only a positive outcome from the woes plaguing my brothers and sisters of the grove. We must maintain faith that his hands will still the chaos and let the khor'vela be healed."
  • ASK PRIEST ABOUT SAEMAUS: The priest says, "Rumors are about that Kurmin and his band of engineers have made their preparations and will soon be upon us. I have no doubt that Saemaus's influence will be felt throughout the celebrations, even if my brothers and sisters are occupied with tending the grove."
  • ASK PRIEST ABOUT BE'ORT:
Scratching a patch of stubble, the priest says, "There are two sides of every coin, no? Where Saemaus and Glythtide spread joy, celebration and merriment at festivals, weddings and other grand gatherings, Be'ort couldn't stand in further opposition. Whatever the cause, I am certain that the chaos now being sewn throughout the realms is the doing of Be'ort to thwart Kurmin's festivities."
Somehow standing taller than you'd expect, the Halfling priest firmly states, "My brothers and sisters of the grove will overcome the miserable coyote's schemes. With the assistance of adventurers such as yourself, I am certain of it!"
  • ASK PRIEST ABOUT KHOR'VELA: "Did you know, some refer to the khor'vela as the Mercy of Albreda and consider it a blessing for a happy marriage? Others consider them to be oddly carnivorous." The priest looks uncomfortable before continuing, "Praise Glythtide, I've never been bitten during my work in the grove. Still, with the beltunumshi springing up faster than we can swat them down right now, I bet there's some truth to it!"
  • ASK PRIEST ABOUT BALANCE:
The Halfling priest reverantly says, "In all things, there must be balance -- light and dark, joy and misery, day and night, good and evil. My brothers and sisters following the steps of Saemaus and Be'ort often end up on opposite sides. Their sacrifices and devotions to their faiths sway events to and fro, but a line between them remains, never straying too far or too long to either."
He somberly adds, "It is a common teaching, and it does have some truth. But we find ourselves now in a situation where the suffering inflicted by Be'ort is spreading too quickly. The balance is tilted, and we must take steps to restore the balance in some way or another."
  • ASK PRIEST ABOUT SPIDERS: A Halfling priest of Glythtide looks at you and frowns. "Now hardly seems the proper time to ask about that. Bother me later when I'm not so busy."
  • note: this was the response prior to the festival opening.
