Description: Destiny Cipher is one of the more exciting results to arise from the Heritage House's meticulous research. In essence, it is a Sophister meditation technique that has been blended with strands of philosophy from Fortune's Path and grounded in the planar theory first outlined by the Celestial Compact. Unlike other spells that enhance a mage's prophetic talents, Destiny Cipher seeks to clarify the meaning of a prophecy. Many find it useful when working with unfamiliar divination tools or techniques, allowing for a rapid increase in familiarity.
Effect: Increases potency of visions, removes sect preference penalty for divination tools, and increases tool bonding rate.
Example Messaging: You close your eyes and take several slow, calming breaths.

The mental strain of this pattern is considerably eased by your ritual focus. Your mind is cleared of distraction, the present and the mundane. You are adrift in an unbroken sea of silent darkness.

Minute disturbances in the darkness send rings of ripples dancing across the surface. They collide, merge, and pass on. Peaks and troughs accent and cancel one another in a series of chaotic collisions. As you watch, a sense of harmony arises from their interplay, the ripples drifting into phase and the darkness moving with a unified purpose.

The darkness recedes and you find your thoughts unified, your mind honed to a prophetic purpose.

Devices/Tattoos: No devices or tattoos documented.

Notes

  • Teleologic corruption increases the difficulty of casting the spell. The potency and duration of the effect is also further reduced beyond the normal effect at the reduced personal mana cap.

Other messaging

Creatures of light burst into being about you, a disparate collection of shapes and forms with only the barest nod to anthropomorphism. Battle lines are swiftly drawn and an inevitable conflict is set to unfold before you. Moments before they can come to blows, an invisible force sweeps the field, sending the horde tumbling into a glowing tangle of limbs. The figures slowly deform, melting and merging until a single androgynous figure arises.

Countless wisps of light sprout in the darkness most are swiftly extinguished. Soon, only six remain in a circle about you. Six slender pillars of light, their surface slicked with condensation. You focus on each of these in turn, bending them towards you, uniting them into a frail hemispherical shelter under which you sit.

Your mind is cleared of distraction, the present and the mundane. You are adrift in an unbroken sea of silent darkness. As time draws out, a muted, yet persistent drone of alien chatter arises inquiries into your nature, declarations of identity, accusations, unfiltered emotions and abstract impressions all assault your tranquility. These, too, you rebuff as you return to the darkness.

A chorus of voices fills your mind, a cacophony of languages both known and unfamiliar. They overlap, merge, submerge, muffle and distort. You hone in on one voice at a time, memorizing its unique cadence before shifting your focus to the next voice. As you come to know their message, their words, their intent, you realize the throng of voices is really one voice, one language, one truth."

Spears of light descend from above to pierce the darkness, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. All that emerges is a suffused white glow, though it is insufficient to dispel the darkness.

The familiar task is disrupted by a moment of synesthesia. You hear the streams of mana come together as you complete your casting.

Divination Tool Bonding

The boost provided by Destiny Cipher for increasing the bonding rate of divination tools can be quite large. Following are the number of predictions required to cap all six of the 5k platinum Dokora tools from Future is Now at the Hollow Eve Festival. The bones were done without Destiny Cipher; the remaining five tools were done with a maximum Destiny Cipher in effect. All six tools were worked with 100 Charisma.

NOTE - The bones actually required 1200-1500 predictions.
