Calcified Hide
Abbreviation: CH
Prerequisites: Philosopher's Preservation
Minimum Prep: 9
Casting Cap: 42
Valid Spell Target: Self
Description: Calcified Hide uses mutative magic to form a network of slightly flexible, toughened ridges upon the caster's body. These ridges help absorb the shock of all damaging attacks, and may even nullify minor physical damage completely.
Example Messaging: Casting: <Necromancer> holds out his arms to his sides in a preparatory gesture.

<Necromancer> shudders slightly as streams of black energy slide up across his arms from his fingertips before arcing out along his entire body.
Whitened ridges rise up from beneath <Necromancer>'s scales/skin/fur all across his limbs and torso.

1st Person Casting: You hold out your arms to either side as you prepare to focus mutation through your entire being.
You shudder involuntarily as streams of black energy slide back up across your arms from your fingertips before arcing along your entire body.
A brief mixture of pain and euphoria surges through you as whitened ridges rise up from beneath your skin all across your limbs and torso, strengthening your body's ability to absorb damage.

Deflecting: The ridges on <Necromancer>'s calcified hide flare with a black radiance, nullifying the attack!

Player list: Also here: <Necromancer> who is covered with whitened ridges.

Wearing Off: Your body rumbles, sending several short spasms of agony through you, as the ridges encompassing your form recede and vanish.

Notes

  • Reduces incoming damage by a percentage, similar to armor Protection. Against physical forms of damage (Puncture, Impact, Slice), in addition to Protection there is also an Absorption analog: if the damage is sufficiently low, it will be removed completely.
  • Appears in caster LOOK as: <Caster>'s body is wreathed in a bizarre series of whitened ridges, several gleaming with a malevolent black radiance at any given moment.
