Azaylea Valhalla was born on the 26th day of the 6th month of Arhat the Fire Lion, 374 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer. She grew up north of Leth Deriel, on the southern shore of the Segoltha River. Azaylea's mother was a priestess from Muspar'i who moved to Zoluren in 335 AV, and married a young blacksmith named Vintali Valhalla. Azaylea had one older brother, Menrion, who was lost at sea in the year 389 on a trip to Hara'jaal. In anticipation of her brother's return she moved to the Crossing in 390 AV to live with her sister-in-law, Witchbaby. The two spent many days watching the river from the tower window, but her lost brother never returned. Azaylea also has kin from the Velaka Desert, and two cousins in Zoluren, Lycette and Vivalynn.
