The Soul System powers a Paladin's abilities.

A Paladin's soul directly influences their ability to glyph and use other special abilities. The size of a Paladin's soul pool is directly related to the Paladin's circle, charisma, and state of their soul. You are able to check your soul by rubbing on a soulstone, which can be obtained from tortured souls in Riverhaven. The levels of soul from best to worst are:

  • gleams brightly with a pristine luminescence!
  • pure white light
  • steady white hue
  • chalky grey
  • pallid grey
  • cold and lifeless, tainted darkish grey with sinister black streaks.
  • soulstone melts

You can also check your soul by walking through a soulstone arch. As time goes on, your soul will gradually become darker, unless you are at the very uppermost end of Pristine Luminescent. Your soul however, will never naturally fall below the chalky grey level through natural drain. This is a fairly long process, so as long as you perform “good” deeds somewhat regularly you should have little trouble keeping your soul at Pristine Luminescent. You must also maintain a Pristine Luminescent soul for most if not all of the quests you are sent on by our Guildleaders.

The benefits of a Pristine Soul are:

  • Larger soul pool
  • Sixth Sense
  • Your body becomes blessed vs the undead while brawling
  • Soul dependent abilities will be more potent

You are also able to check the level of your soul pool by exhaling on a soulstone. The order from highest to lowest:

  • It brightens with an inner light, which lingers for a few moments before returning to its normal state.
  • It pulses rapidly with an inner light!
  • It pulses steadily with an inner light!
  • It pulses slowly with an inner light!
  • It pulses briefly with an inner light!

The following actions give a soul boost to Paladins:

  • Protecting someone against a creature that is a danger to the Paladin. Timer: 1 hour
  • Killing Undead, so long as the Paladin gains exp and makes the killing blow. The effect is totally random so there is no guarantee you will see a boost in your soul every time you kill the undead.
  • Feeding a starving caravan
  • Starting an RPA
  • Tending another non-Paladin wounds. Timer: 1 hour
  • Tithing, you will get the maximum boost to your soul by tithing 5 silver, anything above that amount will gain you no further boost. Timer: 4 hours
  • Accusing thieves you catch stealing from you
  • Praying on a pilgrim badge, the greater the number of altars and shrines on the badge, the greater the boost to your soul. Timer: 31 minutes
  • Playing a hymn or psalm at a devotion capable altar or shrine. Requires 100+ in your chosen instrument for hymns, and 200+ in your chosen instrument for psalms.
  • Tracing the glyph of mana in a room that has a cleric and a deader in it.
  • Having a cleric read the book of Chadatru in Therens Keep, in its entirety to you.
  • Praying at the Shard, Crossing, or Mer’Kresh Chadatru altar after you have completed the Holy Weapon Quest. (Biggest boost to your soul available)
  • Praying in the meditation pool in the Hib Guild Hall.

The following deeds, will hurt your soul, causing it to darken:

  • Stealing from another player
  • Attacking first in a CvC/PvP situation
  • Graverobbing
  • Attacking a creature/player from hiding
  • Throwing dirt
  • Spitting
  • Advancing or retreating from hiding or while invisible
  • Hiding during combat with other players
  • Making or Using Poison, Poison Weapons, or anything to do with Poison
