Hollow Eve...

runs for multiple weeks.
You can come and go as you please, and it will still be there when you pop back in for the duration of its run.

has an extremely large selection of shops.
Many of these shops have items with properties, abilities, or materials that are limited, HE-exclusive, or otherwise special in some fashion.

is a fun social event where PCs from all over come together for a bit, even ones who might not normally ever interact with each other.
Develop new friends, new enemies! While you don't have to stick around in the fest area, many people do, so come get your RP on!

has scheduled and non-scheduled special live events throughout.
These can, and do, occur at all times of the day and night, and have included:

Special in-shop raffles like the one last year in Natural Beauty (see https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Natural_Beauty for details)

Ticket raffles that were new last year ( https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Hollow_Eve_410_Ticket_Raffle )

Regular free raffles (see https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Hollow_Eve_410_Raffle_Center for examples of prizes)

Catch games with special prizes ( https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Capture_the_Critter )

Alteration sessions

GMNPC-run live games (like those run by Vatari)

RP events (like the feud between Fritha and Cereia last year)

The auction

... and others!

has a slew of always-open games, tasks, and other ways to get neat (and even very rare!) prizes, including crafting materials!
Some of these in the past have been:

Zasele's tasks ( https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Zasele )

Shoving your face into a bunch of snakes to try to grab rare crossbow ammo ( https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Bobbin%27_For_Bolts )

Bunches of games where you and your friends can compete to see who still lives at the end to get the prize, like:
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Game_of_Chicken
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Rissan_Roulette
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Musical_Chairs_of_Doom

Games for those who'd rather risk death or dismemberment without having to round up others to play along, like:
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Blood_and_Gourd
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Boggle_Blast
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Darkbox
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Clockwork_Spinneret

And even games/activities for those who aren't really into the whole self-injury thing at all, but who might want a chance at something neat, including:
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Better_Box_o%27_Gems
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Grave_earth_pile
https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Entrail_Toss_Arena

has a special gift available to each character you sign up for it with (ticket tiers give some discounts for people who want to take multiple characters on the same account).
While we do like to keep the gift a surprise until its release during the fest, past HE gifts are viewable here: https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Hollow_Eve_Festival

This isn't even an exhaustive list, nor does it include the new surprises for this year.

In the end, only you can decide if it's worth it to you, but we like to think it has a lot of things that can appeal to a lot of people!
