The silver token is commonly used to modify the appearance of a Moon Mage's shadow servant. Not being such a mage, you're fairly certain you couldn't activate such a device.

Were the silver token to be activated, the following modifications to a servant would be made:

 Base Description: "a writhing Shadow Servant"
 Long Description: "a writhing Shadow Servant composed of oily black slugs"
 LOOK Description: "Larvae-like bits of liquid darkness writhe in a dense mass of oily shadow, squirming and reforming to maintain a vaguely humanoid shape.  Occasionally, one of the inky slugs drops away from the amalgamated body and dissolves into nothingness."

These are compatible with the scroll system for alterations. You must use this item as the base when you GET your scroll if you wish to have it altered.
