Regarding Durability/Quality:

Making a Scraper or Shaper out of HCS leads to a very fragile end result, whereas covelite results in something significantly more durable. Both have a statement on their templates that "Hide scrapers use hardness and weight to derive their potency". This is somewhat vague (what does 'potency' mean?), but it also implies that HCS (hardness: 90) should be inordinately superior to covelite (hardness: 35). The end result, however, is that the HCS version is fragile as heck, while the covelite version is extremely resistant (curved template, tempered). This is all to say that despite the information presented here, I have zero idea what metal will provide a quality end result. Also of note: despite 200+ forging & appraisal, my analyze does not show the speed attribute of the crafted scrapers that I am comparing, unfortunately. KASHNA (talk) 14:28, 30 April 2019 (CDT)
