Focus + Feat required as well?

So, apparently I am unable to cast POM, despite having all of the basic requirements for the spell well in hand, because I am missing the Holy Ritual Focus? There's a note on the page for the required [Weapon:Slender alabaster staff with a silver cobra coiled along it] stating that it requires that I also have one of the [Magical feats], Improvised Rituals. Is this correct? ...that's a lot of money and an additional spell-slot to cast this thing... weird that it's not a part of the package to begin with if it truly IS required.. Are there any alternatives to spending 143 platinum and a spell slot? KASHNA (talk) 13:17 14 May 2016 (EST)

That's a global Holy focus, you want a specific focus for that spellbook to avoid getting Improvised Rituals and that global focus. Check out the Artificer shop, everything in there is labeled. I believe you want sirese ink but I'm not 100%. -- Thayet (talk) 14:36, 14 May 2016 (CDT)
The Persistence of Mana page should explain that you will need a focus, and that you have an option of the staff + feat with unlimited charges (unlimited foci require the Improvised Rituals feat), or you can use the inkwell which is cheaper and does not require the feat, but is only good for 40 uses. I find keeping PoM up all the time, I constantly would run out of the inkwell and switched to a unlimited foci. - padhg (talk) 15:37, 14 May 2016 (CDT)
I just keep PoM in my orb, have to refresh it once a week or so, but yeah eventually you'll definitely want the staff+feat (or some other focus, I use worn ones from fests). - RAISER (talk) 22:53, 28 July 2016 (CDT)
